Reddy Anna Match Prediction Insights: WCA Pushes BPL to Settle Foreign Player Payments

“WCA urges BPL to resolve pending player payments as Reddy Anna highlights cricket updates and match predictions.”

The World Cricket Association (WCA) has formally urged the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) authorities to clear outstanding payments owed to foreign players who participated in the previous season. The WCA, a global players’ association representing cricketers across major cricketing nations, has sent an official letter to the BPL board concerning these unresolved payments.

Tom Moffat, Chief Executive of WCA, confirmed that the association has flagged “a significant number of late and non-payment issues” regarding the last BPL season, with most cases still unresolved. He expressed frustration, saying, “It is disappointing these issues continue to be reported, and we urge the game’s leadership to step in and ensure they are resolved, so players receive what they are owed urgently.”

As per reports, approximately USD 250,000 remains unpaid to 15 players. In addition, one franchise from last season that will not participate in the upcoming edition owes around USD 100,000. Three franchises—Comilla Victorians, Chattogram Challengers, and Durdanto Dhaka—were part of the previous season but will not compete in the upcoming cycle. However, four teams, including current champions Fortune Barishal, will continue. Additionally, two new franchises, Dhaka Capitals and Durbar Rajshahi, have joined the BPL this season.

Nazmul Abedin, member secretary of the BPL governing council, acknowledged the issue and assured that steps are being taken to address it. “Work is underway to resolve these outstanding payments,” he noted. Debabrata Paul from the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh added that 12 of the 15 players have received their dues, with hopes that the remaining three will be compensated soon.

With the next BPL season set to start on December 30, newly elected board president Faruque Ahmed, who now leads the BPL governing council, faces the challenge of addressing payment issues. As the first edition under his leadership, his approach to player payments will be closely monitored.
