Durbar Rajshahi's Foreign Stars Stranded Amid Payment Crisis – Reddy Anna Match Prediction

The foreign players and staff of Durbar Rajshahi remain unpaid, a top official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed to Cricbuzz. This comes despite franchise owner Shafiq Rahman claiming that return tickets had been arranged for overseas cricketers.
However, reports suggest that the players were left stranded at their team hotel in Dhaka, unable to reach management or receive their due payments. This situation highlights yet another issue in franchise cricket, raising concerns over financial security for players in leagues worldwide.
Unpaid Players Left in Limbo
Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris, Afghanistan’s Aftab Alam, West Indies’ Mark Deyal and Miguel Cummins, along with Zimbabwe’s Ryan Burl, are among those awaiting their payments. While some have received just 25% of their dues, others have not been paid at all. The lack of communication from the owners has only worsened the situation.
Frustrated by the non-payment issue, several local players of Durbar Rajshahi left the hotel without receiving their owed salaries. Foreign players also chose to boycott their final group-stage match in protest.
Despite the BCB announcing an intervention and the National Sports Council (NSC) forming a fact-finding committee, the players are now set to leave Bangladesh empty-handed
Still No Payment Received" – BCB Official
“I just spoke with Ryan Burl and others, and they confirmed that they are yet to receive their dues,” a BCB official told reporters.
“I have been in regular contact with Rajshahi’s owner, and he keeps saying that he is trying to arrange funds. Just yesterday, Bangladesh’s sports adviser, Asif Mahmud, met him and asked him to clear the payments as soon as possible. He agreed, but nothing has happened yet.”
As per league rules, 75% of the payment was supposed to be cleared by February 7, while the rest should have been settled by March 8. However, the franchise has failed to meet deadlines, bringing embarrassment to the tournament organizers.
Bus Driver Holds Players’ Kit Bags Over Unpaid Salary
The issue escalated further when the team’s bus driver, Mohammad Babul, locked the players’ kit bags inside the team bus, refusing to return them unless his pending salary was cleared.
“It’s a matter of regret and shame. If they had paid us, we would have given back the kit bags,” said Babul outside the team hotel.
“The kit bags of both local and foreign players are still in the bus, but I cannot return them because a large portion of our remuneration remains unpaid.”
The team had completed its travel schedule from Dhaka to Sylhet, then Chattogram, and back to Dhaka, but with no matches left, players now face uncertainty regarding their dues.
Rajshahi Owner Taken into Police Custody
On Monday, February 3, Durbar Rajshahi’s owner Shafiq Rahman was taken into police custody for questioning regarding the financial crisis. It is understood that he has promised to clear payments in three phases, on February 3, 7, and 10. However, given the history of false assurances, skepticism remains among the players and staff.
