The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a Special General Meeting (SGM) on March 1 to elect a new joint secretary. The SGM will take place in Mumbai at noon at the BCCI headquarters. This election follows the vacancy created when Devjit Saikia was appointed as the BCCI secretary last month, replacing Jay Shah. According to the BCCI constitution, the position must be filled within 45 days, making the SGM crucial.

This SGM is the second in just two months. The first, held on January 12, saw Saikia elected as secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia elected as treasurer, both unopposed. The election for joint secretary is expected to follow a similar pattern, with no contest anticipated. A candidate from the West Zone is likely to fill the position after a consensus is reached before nominations are filed.
